The ECFOA was recognized in 2006 as the Florida High School Athletic Association of the year. This achievement was bestowed for innovation in the areas of Community Relations, Recruitment, Training, Recognition and Diversity.
The ECFOA is in the fourth year of its Student Officials program. Students ages 16 and up now have the ability to register for sports specific officals training. Not only is this a great way for these student officials to make some extra money, but they are also learning that sports officiating is rewarding and fun. Many of these student officials will continue to pursue their passion for sports through the avocation of officiating as they move to other areas of the state and beyond.
Two of the ECFOA's officials: Maria Jackson and Sakaiya Jackson attended this year's NFL Pro Bowl game in Hawaii.
The ECFOA was awarded a Battered Boot award for raising over $4,000 for the March of Dimes and the fight against Premature Birth. The ECFOA had 15 officials volunteer for the annual Walk America in Lake Worth and Boca Raton Florida. This year's WalkAmerica was April 21, 2007 at John Prince Park and at the campus of Florida Atlantic University.
